Thoughts

Carlos Slim

The idea behind Carlos Slim's space is that he is a very powerful person, and he knows it. Everything he has or owns is big powerful and great. Things he owns and runs are grand, and it shows off his power and his money.

I made his office space the same, to resemble his great power and money. It is build like an ancient temple, such as the Pantheon, in which they also wanted to show off its greatness and the power that it resembled.

At the center of his space is a cradled globe, representing the world he has in his hands being the richest man in the world. Up the end of his space is a giant phone and cigar also representing other things and ideas that he represents .

Ratan Tata

The ideas behind Ratan Tata's office is that he and his company are expanding more and more everyday, he owns parts in virtually everything in India, phones, transport, food, television.

"
If you wake up in India, you are likely to sip Tata tea, make early morning calls on your Tata mobile phone and take a Tata sedan to work.

There is a good chance that you will be wearing a Tata watch or shoes sold by Tata as well. Back home, you may be leaving your wife and children surfing more than 100 channels on the local direct-to-home television system launched by Tata along with Star.

Your children may work in any of the Tata companies which already employ nearly 250,000 people or opt for higher studies at a science or social sciences school run by the Tatas. If you fall ill, you might head to the nearest Tata hospital." - BBC News, Tata - integral part of Indian life.

To represent this ever growing and ever expanding concept, i made his office space feel like it is attatched to everything, there is stuff reaching every where and it is all connected, with him at the centre. There is even a seperate elevator at the back that takes him into the heart of Carlos Slim's office.

Looking in from Tata's end, with his reach still expanding even into the meeting room.

Tata has a piece of everything in India. Such a wide market base is the essence of power.

Looking in Slims side of the meeting area, with its big powerful pillars and strong concrete.

Tata's ever expanding office, which even reaches Slim's office via rear elevator, this represents his power.

"Slim's Teléfonos de México controls 92% of the country's phone lines"

Overall View of the whole map, showing Tata's ever expanding office reaching out and touching everything it can get a hold of, even Slim's office space. And on Top Slims giant empire, sitting cofortably by itself on top of the world.

Looking up a section of the ramp heading towards the meeting space. Gives a feeling of unease and uncertainty.

Looking onto Darwin's ramp. This ramp shows the need for change in direction, and not simply heading for that which catches your eye.
